Much time was spent driving between the places and this gave opportunity to enjoy the beautiful landscape on the way.
A very talented band, Douglas Wilson , was also on this tour. They are from the Northeast part of Iceland and they also played every show.
There was one day of and it was spent on looking at the amazing landscape around lake Mývatn (Ottó's home place). It includes such things as Dimmu Borgir, Hverfjall and Grjótagjá. We also went swimming in one of the natural hot springs there, guided by the kind singer of Douglas Wilson, Stefán Jakobsson.
This was an altogether enjoyable tour thanks to all helpers, sponsors, fans and everybody who was involved in making this happen.
Looking very much forward to next time.

9/7-10/7 - Headbangers Open Air Brande, Germany
Týr played at Headbangers Open Air Festival 2004 , the Largest Garden Party in the world, the bands first German gig but it will not be the last. It was very interesting meeting all the people we had been corresponding with for a year, for they seldom match your expectations but they never let you down either.
Playing at the festival was an experience for seldom have we played for such a Metal loving crowd and we were especially pleased being called in again for an encore, or ”Zugabe”, as they shouted in front of the stage. Thanks to everyone who was there for a great experience, and to the Stage Master for letting us do the extra in spite of a thight schedule.
Stefan Glass from Heavy, Oder Was!? wrote that:
”TYR waren... ...das erste Highlight des Festivals!”,
and Do from Metal Inside magazine said, among other things, that:
“Die Dänen von den Färöer Inseln scheinen nicht nur sehr gute Fußballer zu sein, sondern zeigen sich auch äußerst talentiert in Sachen Folk Metal.”
Thanks to Frank Albrecht for coming all the way to Bebra to listen to us.
Many thanks to Tomas Tegelhütter at HOA and Jürgen Hegewald at Hellion Records for making this happen.

16/7-17/7 - RockTown Open Air Bebra, Germany
This was a very relaxed and cozy festival in perfect Germany countryside surroundings. A romantic old German village called Bebra, a bridge over the river which ran into the great lake surrounding the picturesque city. The people at the Festival were very forthcoming, friendly and helpful and this made a great impression on us.
At Soundbase Online they wrote about the concert that:
“Týr von den Färöer Inseln spielen Viking Metal gemischt mit Doom- und Prog-Elementen und genialen mehrstimmigen Gesangssätzen.”
Thanks to Petra Eggers for letting us use her very good pictures and many thanks to Matthias Bloss and his crew for treating us extremely well. We hope to do this again next year. |
29/7 - Ólavsøka Bryggen, Denmark
Týr will be playing at Ólavsøka, the Faeroese national holiday, at Bryggen in Copenhagen, Denmark. |
14/8 - Summerfestival Klaksvík, Faeroes
Týr played at the first music festival Summarfestivalur in Klaksvík, Faeroes. Among many great bands and solo artists was Ken Hensley from Uriah Heep, who has been an idol for the members of Týr since their childhood. Týr truely enjoyed this festival that will be an annual event hereafter.
