27/3-6/4 How Far To Asgaard tour 2002 Akureyri / Broadway / Reiðhøllini / Ásatrunarfelagnum / Smáralind / Stapanum, Iceland
Following the release of Týr's debut album "How Far To Asgaard" on 09.01.2002, "Ormurin langi" becomes Most Wanted Ever at Icelandic national radio.
Kindly invited by Hljómalind, Týr play their first gigs in Iceland, but ceartainly not the last. The reception is amazing. Sold out gigs, interview upon interview by radio, tv., and papers. At Icelandic National Radio, dj's Ólafur Páll Gunnarsson and Guðni Már Henningsson say, they have not experienced such massive and persistant request for one band before. Týr have a heck of a time, and enjoy themselves very much. Týr will return to Iceland.
"We came to Iceland April 26'th and were driven straight to a welcome party at Stuðmenn's keyboardist, Jakob's house. The following morning we featured live in the TV news. Then straight to Rás 2, who have been so kind to promote us in Iceland. We were followed much of the time by a national TV crew, and felt like stars. We gave four interviews in one morning. Never before have we been recieved so well by the media. In the afternoon we went on the 8 hour drive to Akureyri across Iceland, and saw breathtaking scenary and incrediable nature. At Akureyri we played with Stuðmenn, a well established Icelandic band, and together we played good conserts. Back to Reykjavík the next day, a beautiful and alive city. The following week we played at Broadway, Reiðhøllini, Ásatrunarfelagnum, Smáralind and Stapanum. Everywhere we were well greeted and it was fabulous to play for crowds with so much spirit. Great crowd. We also visit the Blue Lagune and Laugardalslaugina, which can only be recommended." týr
On monday April 9'th and the following week, Týr's début album was #1 on Icelandic sales charts.

The video will be released this summer. Producer is Ingolfur Juliusson. Also making a documentary about Týr are the Juliusson brothers. Jens Guð, journalist for icelndic musicmagazine Sánd, has done a great deal for Týr in Iceland. Last but defenetly not least, we would like to thank Kiddi from Hljómalind, who arranged the whole tour. A great manager.
