Out of print for many years, TYR's early musical signs of life are almost as secretive as the band's reclusive homeland, the Faeroe Islands. Yet fans of TYR will finally be able to also embrace their early works. The re-release " How Far to Asgaard" comprises not only the debut album of the same title, but also the single "Ólavur Riddararós" (2002). Both releases deliver the ingredients that fans of the Viking Metal genre have come to love and expect, including sweeping vocal lines, diverse songwriting, and extraordinary usicianship, as well as new artwork that fits in perfectly with the album's lyrical theme. 02 May 08 | Copenhagen Show @ The Rock & Rock Mania Festival cancelled!
Unfortunately Týr had to cancel the two performances, because of Kari's health - he is not able to play the festival season and due to the North American tour there is no time to prepare a 90 minutes set with Amon (he is not in the US with the band). Both shows will be re-scheduled, check back for news. Týr is VERY sorry about that situation, but it was unavoidable. SORRY!

21 Feb 08 | Replacement drummer for Paganfest Tour
Due to injury Kári Streymoy will not be able to man the drumkit during the coming Paganfest tour in Europe, Canada and the US. We are sad at not having him with us, but we have found a worthy replacement for the Europe part of the Paganfest in 20-year old Amon Djurhuus, also from the Faroe Islands.

Amon was first introduced to drumming by Kári himself and has studied with him for a number of years.We've rehearsed with Amon wielding the drumsticks and are confident in his ability to fill Kári's shoes.

For the Canadian and US part of the Paganfest Merlin Sutter, the drummer from Eluveitie, will fill in for Kári.

Hold on to your horses: the Faroese Vikings are coming your way!

The new album by Týr will be called Land. It is scheduled for release in May, and it contains mostly Faeroese, but also Icelandic and Norwegian traditionals, re-arranged into Heavy Metal, as well as new compositions containing traditional elements. The secondmost prevalent language is English.
